Book The Glass Painter's Method: Brushes, Paints & Tools Review :

From my humblest perspective, I believe that the ultimate goal of any review is to provide useful information for readers in support of their decision-making process. Will investment in the product be appropriate for their needs? Thus, it is my sincerest hope that sharing my experience is at least in some small way actually helpful to others.I purchased “The Glass Painter’s Method: Brushes, Paints & Tools” book shortly after registering for the authors’ introductory on-line course. My goal was to learn about the process behind the creation of all the glorious stained glass windows gracing the old neighborhood Churches in Chicago, that I remembered so clearly from my youth. Some would say this was a “bucket list” item, since I had no knowledge of anything related to this topic, but wanted to learn before I was too old or infirmed to care.I did an internet search and came upon the names David Williams and Stephen Byrne. I was immediately drawn to them, as I saw how much information they were willing to share with someone of my standing, who had absolutely no idea where to even begin. Whether it was in their free offerings, recent book, or the on-line courses, the genuineness of their passion for teaching, conducted in a manner that really makes you feel like your educational enrichment is what drives their existence, shines consistently. Their instruction is clear, concise, in well thought out segments of new material built upon prior lessons, with the right measure of review and repetition, whereby whatever your learning style, you actually find yourself really synthesizing the material and growing in your depth of understanding.“The Glass Painter’s Method: Brushes, Paints, & Tools” is an excellent introduction to the world of traditional glass painting. The authors clearly delineate the scope of the book, never suggesting that this is the definitive, encyclopedic source for all that is encompassed within the universe of glass painting. Within these pages, you will learn everything that you need to get started, but you will also be introduced to more complex techniques, in case you find your excitement building to pursue more depth in your understanding of traditional glass painting. Clearly, David Williams and Stephen Byrne love teaching. They earnestly strive to meet the needs of individual learning styles, which is no easy task considering the one-sided delivery medium of the written word. If you are interested in a welcoming, non-intimidating, introduction into the world of traditional glass painting, I sincerely believe you will be pleased with your investment in this book. The authors are so very non-judgmental that you will be comfortable in your choice whether or not you ultimately decide to further your educational pursuits. Personally, I must say that quite unexpectedly David Williams and Stephen Byrne excited my passion to learn much more about traditional glass painting and create without boundaries. They have also unfailingly been there for every step in my journey.
I was thrilled to find this book. Everything you need to know from the brushes you will use, the paints and easy to follow directions are found in this book. What I especially find helpful is the bonus videos that this book gives you access to. The pictures and directions are very easy to follow, and really, if you have the desire to learn, then this book will give you all the knowledge you will need. I included a couple of small projects that I accomplished with the help of this book. Though I am a novice, I am pleased with how I am doing, and I know that if I keep up my lessons, and practice a lot, then I think I can eventually master stained glass painting. I might add, that David and Stephen are always willing to answer any of my questions and help me when I find I am struggling. These two men are masters at their craft, and I can't thank them enough for sharing their knowledge!
